The dust everyone
underestimates.
Anyone who has lived through a renovation knows the moment: the builders have gone, and the home still isn’t yours. On the skirting, in the corners, across every horizontal surface lies a fine white layer — and an ordinary cloth only moves it around.
Here we have an unfair advantage. The other half of VALERIE builds — so we don’t guess where the dust comes from. We know on which day of the renovation it was born, and behind which edge it is hiding. It is no accident that post-renovation cleaning is the service our clients book most often. What we do:
- Removal of fine construction dust — everywhere, not just where it shows
- Traces of paint, adhesive and screed on floors and surfaces
- Windows and frames after construction — glass, profiles, tracks
- Final disinfection of bathrooms and kitchens
- Move-in ready — not “almost”

The most common complaint after a “cleaned” renovation: two days later, the dust is back. It isn’t magic — the finest dust hangs in the air and settles slowly, for days, over everything that already looked clean.
That is why we work in an unforgiving order: top to bottom, from the far end towards the exit, changing cloths and water far more often than seems reasonable. Skirting boards, door frames, light fittings, sockets, the top edges of cabinets — the places nobody looks at, and dust loves most.
When we finish, we go through the room the way you would on moving day — running a hand along the surfaces. If it doesn’t come away clean, we aren’t finished.
Frequently Asked Questions
When is the best time to call you — right after the builders?
After the last dusty work is done — sanding, cutting, drilling. If we arrive while dust is still being raised, we will be cleaning twice. Tell us how far the renovation has come, and we will tell you honestly when the moment is right.
The dust reappeared after a few days — is that normal?
To a degree — the finest dust keeps settling out of the air for days, and a light second layer is physics, not negligence. That is why we clean in an order that captures the maximum the first time round. If anything still bothers you afterwards, call us — we will look at it together.
Does the site need to be cleared of building materials?
Bulky waste and leftover materials are best removed — that is how we reach every corner. If that isn’t possible, we agree at the site visit what stays and how we will work around it, so both sides know exactly what the service covers.
